Household savings, explained

Saving at home starts with choosing better.

We compare products, examine energy use and do the maths to help you spend less at home.

You are reading our English introduction. Detailed guides, comparisons, calculators and the main navigation are currently in Spanish. Our examples focus on households in Spain and use euros.

Do the maths before you buy

Use your appliance's electrical input power, hours of use and your own electricity price. The price below is an example, not a current tariff.

What does a 50 W fan cost to run?

50 W ÷ 1,000 × 8 hours × €0.20/kWh = €0.08 per night.

At eight hours a night for 30 nights, that is 12 kWh and €2.40 in electricity. This is an estimate assuming a constant 50 W draw. Your actual power setting and tariff can change the result; standing charges and other bill items are excluded.

A useful comparison answers more than “which is best?”

What does it cost to buy and run? What could it save? How long might it take to pay back? Who is it suitable for, and who should skip it? We distinguish specification-based analysis from hands-on testing, and we do not claim to have tested a product without documented testing.
